Official Participants - Partners for the Future
In 2008 and 2009, the nanotechnology location Germany is showcasing itself internationally in the context of the "Welcome to Nanotech Germany" initiative. Under the Nano Initiative, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is funding university and non-university science and research institutions as well as companies and networks with strong research credentials in the field of nanotechnology. The goal is to initiate new cooperation worldwide and to attract and recruit international scientists and researchers for collaboration with Germany. On top of this, presentations, special congresses and conferences as well as workshops, partnering events and symposia are going to inform about Nanotechnology in Germany.
The following pages will give you a brief and informative profile of each of the funded networks.
The Fraunhofer Society is the biggest private non-profit organization for applied research and development in Europe. 20 Fraunhofer Institutes have joined forces to foster the industrial implementation of nanotechnologies.
HiNanoAnalytics links scientific excellence in basic and applied research with commercialisation of advanced technologies in nanotechnology based analytics.
The network focuses on nanostructured semiconductor lasers for optical sensing. Using semiconductor quantum dots as base material, the spectral range of the laser emission can be extended considerably compared to currently used layer structures.
