More than 1,200 IT experts are meeting at the Austria Center Vienna from 20 to 24 September 2009 to attend the 35th European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC), Europe's foremost optical technologies event.

The organisers expect more than 5,000 visitors and 300 exhibitors from over 40 countries to attend the parallel conference from 21 to 23 September, which focuses on materials, components and systems for photonic networks. The Information Technology Society (ITS) at the VDE is organising the conference in cooperation with the Austrian Electrotechnical Association (OVE).

Experts from science and industry will assess the current state of photonic technology and future telecommunications networks in 400 and more specialist contributions, symposiums and workshops.
