Optical Technologies
Research and development at the Fraunhofer IOF focuses on optical systems technology with a view to continually improving the control of light from generation via guiding and manipulation up to its application.
The Fraunhofer in Aachen focuses its research on the development of new laser beam sources and components, the use of modern laser measurement and testing technology and laser-supported manufacturing.
The IPMS develops electronic, mechanical and optical components and integrates them into miniature »intelligent« devices and systems. Its specific competence lies in the uses of light, i.e. the application of optical properties and components.
Spectaris is the German Industry Association for Optical, Medical and Mechatronic Technologies (OMMT). Its members span a vast array of industries.
OPTATEC is an international trade fair for optical technologies, components, systems and manufacturing. It is held at the Frankfurt Exhibition Centre in Germany on a two yearly basis.
The Technology Platform Photonics21 is representing the photonics community in Europe. It counts more than 1,600 members coming from 49 countries.
The Research Explorer is a joint project of the DFG (German Research Foundation) and the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). The database contains over 17,000 institutes at German universities plus non-university research institutions, searchable by name, geographic location, subject and other criteria.
"LASER. World of Photonics", the world's leading trade show for optical technologies, takes place in Munich, Germany, once every two years. The event is held parallel to the World of Photonics Congress, Europe’s largest photonics conference.
