With the initiative "Freedom for Research in the Humanities" the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is setting out to enhance the humanities from the structural point of view and to provide them with more latitude to develop their strengths.

    Objectives of the initiative

    • Defining the significance of research in the humanities for the academic and societal dialogue,
    • Advancing the development of new methods in the humanities and intensifying interaction with the natural and engineering sciences,
    • Promoting the internationalization of research in the humanities
