The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the American Friends of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AFAvH) will jointly represent "Research in Germany" at the 39th annual Society for Neuroscience (SfN) conference in Chicago, Illinois. SfN is the largest membership organization of scientists and physicians who study the brain and nervous system. Its annual meetings attract over 30,000 attendees from around the globe. The exhibition is part of the “Research in Germany – Land of Ideas” initiative to promote Germany’s research activities.
Alongside the exhibition, the German research funding agencies will hold a workshop titled “Neuroscience in Europe: German and EU Research Funding Opportunities" on Monday, October 19 from 2 pm to 5 pm (Room S106 in the McCormick Place Convention Center). This workshop will inform experts in the field about the long-term, secured investment Germany and the EU are making in neuroscience and research. Attendees will learn about funding activities, collaborative grants, principal investigator grants, and individual postdoctoral fellowships.
The annual “Neuroscience in Germany” Social will facilitate the exchange of ideas, contacts and information about job opportunities among scientists, research fellows, and students interested in German neuroscience. Anyone who wishes to establish contacts with German neuroscientists is encouraged to participate. The event will take place on Monday, October 19, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Berghoff Restaurant (17 West Adams Street).
We invite all scientists and journalists to visit the “Research in Germany” booth # 2149, attend the workshop session and join the reception. Neuroscience 2009 will be held from October 17 to 21 at the McCormick Place Convention Center, 301 S. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago. Exhibits will be open Sunday to Wednesday from 9:30 am to 5 pm.
The German presentation has been supported by the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
