EUREKA: World-Class Innovation Through International Cooperation
???aural:Bildende???
Germany takes the chair of the pan-European initiative EUREKA on 1 July 2009, a network of 37 European countries, Israel and the European Commission whose shared goal is to help companies and research institutes carry out transnational cooperative R&D projects.
The German EUREKA Chairmanship will be launched at an international conference on "World-Class Innovation Through International Cooperation" in Dresden on 6-7 July 2009. The conference will address current and future opportunities and challenges for Europe's global competitiveness and the potential of international collaborative R&D initiatives to reinforce and enhance Europe's innovative capacity.
This is to be seen in light of the latest major trends and issues being discussed between industry players, researchers and policy-makers alike, such as expanding globalisation, economic crisis, climate change, energy security, or demographic change, to name but a few. European and international high-level representatives from industry, science and governments are expected to attend.
The conference provides the platform for the German Chairmanship to present the goals and topics of the presidency and to debate these with the audience in a variety of settings, such as plenary sessions, workshops, and a panel discussion. The conference, hosted and conceptually designed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), is expected to open up new political and thematic initiatives within EUREKA.
