From September 7 to 12, 2009, the world of medical engineering will be meeting at the World Congress 2009 on Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering in Munich, the biggest and most important event of its kind worldwide with over 2,000 lectures and posters from physicians, scientists and engineers from around the world.

Three prominent personalities from politics, industry, and the scientific community - Dr. Annette Schavan, Germany's Minister for Education and Research, Siemens Healthcare CEO Prof. Dr. Hermann Requardt, and Nobel Laureate Prof. Dr. Roger Y. Tsien - will be opening the Congress.

Hosts of the Congress are the VDE, with its German Society for Biomedical Engineering (DGBMT), the German Society for Medical Physics (DGMP) and a number of international organizations. Working in close cooperation with industry and the scientific and medical communities, as well as with Germany's Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF), the VDE has initiated and implemented numerous projects on innovation management in medical engineering that will be further supported by the Congress.
