"Fraunhofer Attract" promotes the professional advancement of outstanding research. It offers researchers with an exceptional track record the opportunity to develop their ideas towards application. A call for proposals is held twice a year. The Fraunhofer Attract profile:

  • A research budget of 2.5 million euros over 5 years.
  • Budget and recruiting responsibility – Establish and run a new research group at a Fraunhofer Institute.
  • Do research in close cooperation with industry.
  • Develop ideas towards application in excellently equipped Fraunhofer labs.
  • Become an R&D leader with the very best prospects in science and industry.

The grant targets talents at universities, research organisations and industry with some postdoctoral experience and motivated to work in a dynamic and renowned contract research organisation. The Fraunhofer portfolio covers nearly all fields of applied technical R&D – from production technology, photonics, materials sciences, microelectronics to life sciences.

Attract Groups can be set up at any one of 57 Fraunhofer Institutes in Germany. Most of the 15,000 staff are qualified scientists and engineers who work with an annual research budget of 1.4 billion euros. Affiliated research centres and representative offices are located in Europe, the USA and Asia. The next deadline for proposals is 5 October 2009.
