Damaris Odeny is a plant biologist. She is working at Cologne's Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research. She hopes that the molecular breeding techniques for potatoes can be transferred to the plant on which she wrote her doctorate, pigeon peas, a staple food in subtropical and tropical areas like Damaris Odeny's homeland, Kenya. Her chief aim is to help farmers increase yields and enjoy a better life
