Germany's automobile industry is one of the key sectors in the country. Logistics, the automotive industry and trade are the three industries with the biggest turnover in Germany:

  • Approximately one in seven jobs in Germany depends either directly or indirectly on the automotive industry.
  • The industry had a turnover of 330 billion euros in 2008 and employed about 750,000 people.
  • Approximately 2.6 million people are employed in logistics (across all industries).
  • The railway industry earns 60 percent of its turnover of 10 billion euros in the field of exports.
  • The German shipbuilding and offshore supplier industry had a turnover of 13 billion euros in 2008.
