In order to be able to gear research towards joint objectives and develop security concepts that can be applied in practice and are meeting social expectations, the Federal Government's Research Programme for Civil Security includes all disciplines in the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences for the first time ever. Interdisciplinary projects, with participation of industry, operators of infrastructures and institutions which apply security solutions, knowledge transfer to citizens, scientific support for critical issues and transparency are the prerequisites for successful security research.

Research Programme for Civil Security

The programme is not entirely focused on technology. Innovation does not only mean technological innovation but also includes innovative organizational concepts and strategies for action. A characteristic feature is the application-related work in the projects involving the entire innovation chain from research to industry and up to operators of infrastructures and institutions which apply security solutions.
