Professor Martin Faulstich has held the chair of Resource and Energy Technology at the Technical University (TU) of Munich since 2003. He is also the founding director and the managing director of the Science Centre Straubing, in which the TU Munich and four other Bavarian institutions of higher education have joined forces to undertake projects on renewable resources for energy and materials production.
Since 2001, Professor Faulstich has been the chairman of the ATZ Development Centre in Sulzbach-Rosenberg, which carries out research into processes and materials for energy technology. His work focuses on developing thermal and biological processes for the production of energy and materials from biomass and refuse.
In 2006, Professor Faulstich was appointed to the German Advisory Council on the Environment, which advises the German Federal Government on scientific matters. He was elected chairman of the council in 2008. His numerous publications have recently included a number of articles and papers on the subject of “energy and raw materials from biomass”.
