Academy of Science
The German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech) is a non-profit organisation that represents the interests of the technical sciences at national and international level. Its mission is to foster technological development and to promote young researchers. (The English website presently only offers a selected range of information).
With over 1,250 members worldwide and a tradition of 355 years, the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina is the world’s oldest continuously existing academy of medicine and natural sciences. Since February 2008, the Leopoldina Academy is Germany's first National Academy of Science.
The Union of the German Academies of Sciences and Humanities is an association of eight academies of sciences and humanities. It counts more than 1,600 scientists and academics who are outstanding representatives of their disciplines, both nationally and internationally, and whose work covers a broad range of subject areas.
The Young Academy was founded in 2000 and is a joint project of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW) and the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina. It aims to offer outstanding young scientists a platform for scientific discourse.
