German Center for Research and Innovation (DWIH) New York
Under the joint leadership of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Research Foundation (DFG), the German Center for Research and Innovation (GCRI) brings together great minds and outstanding talent in a broad range of activities. From lectures and exhibitions to scientific symposia, workshops, and science dinners, the exchange of expertise and ideas as well as the development of strong networks are an integral component of GCRI events.
GCRI’s mission is to strengthen transatlantic collaboration in science and technology to help solve the challenges of the 21st century. Its primary goals consist of:
- Presenting Germany to the North American market as a land of research and innovation
- Enhancing the dialogue between academia and industry
- Creating a forum for the initiation and enhancement of transatlantic projects
- Providing an information platform for the German research and innovation landscape
The Federal Minister of Education and Research, Annette Schavan, and the German Ambassador to the United States, Klaus Scharioth, opened the GCRI on February 19, 2010. As a cornerstone of the German government’s initiative to internationalize science and research, GCRI is one of five German Houses of Science and Innovation (DWIHs) worldwide.
