German House of Science and Innovation (DWIH) São Paulo
The initiative to establish German Houses of Science and Innovation (DWIH) in strategic partner countries is a joint initiative of the German Federal Foreign Office and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany. The German Houses of Science and Innovation are part of the Science and Internationalization policies of these two ministries.
The Alliance of the German research and science funding organizations together with the German Chambers of Commerce and Industry are responsible for the implementation of the five houses throughout the world - Tokyo, New Delhi, Moscow, New York and São Paulo. Through the houses, the German science and research landscape shall be presented in a collaborative fashion by the German Science and Research Institutions under one roof, enhancing the visibility of Germany as an excellent and highly competitive partner for science and innovation in the partner countries and the world.
The German House of Science and Innovation in São Paulo (DWIH São Paulo) celebrated its kick-off in March 2009 in the presence of the Federal Minster of Research and Education, Prof. Dr. Annette Schavan.
The staff of the DWIH São Paulo has the task to prepare the joint representation of the consortium of German science institutions and innovation agencies in Brazil. In this endeavor the staff is strongly supported by two consortium members to identify the ideal location and legal framework for the future House: a) The German-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in São Paulo (AHK São Paulo) and b) the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) - two institutions with longstanding and intensive relationships to the Economy and Science landscapes of both countries.
