User Information / External Websites
The links to any content on third-party websites (third-party content) have been produced by the editors to the best of their knowledge and with the greatest possible care. Such links merely facilitate access to "third-party content". Particular attention is placed on the credibility and trustworthiness of third-party providers and on the lawfulness of "third-party content".
However, since websites and their content are dynamic and can change at any time, it is not in always possible to constantly check all content on which a link is based. The editors have no influence on the "third-party content" of any websites linked with third parties and can accept no liability for such content. Responsibility for the content of linked websites lies exclusively with the respective provider or operator of the respective sites. Hence, the editors expressly make no claim to ownership of any "third-party content". Liability for damage caused by the use or non-use of websites lies exclusively with the provider or the respectively linked website. As soon as the editors learn of any violations of the law, they will remove such links forthwith.
Please advise us if you find that the referral or its link is incorrect, not up-to-date, or is otherwise objectionable.
Links that refer to content of the website may only be placed with the advance permission of the editors.

Data Protection Statement
No personal information or details need to be provided when visiting the Research in Germany / Land of Ideas website maintained by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The following statement provides a complete overview of how the editors guarantee to protect your data and what kinds of data are collected and for what purpose.
Data processing on this website
Each visit to our website leads to data to being collected and exchanged that was sent to our server by your browser. These details include:
• your internet browser type/version
• the operating system you are using
• the website that has been loaded
• the previously visited page (referrer URL)
• time of the server request
The editors automatically collect and store this data solely for statistical purposes in order to measure the demand for websites. The editors are not able to assign these to any specific person. These data are not combined with any other data sources. IP numbers are only recorded for the length of the visit and for the purpose of answering queries. They are not stored for any longer than the session itself. Data logged during access to the internet gateway will only be transferred to third parties if we are obliged to do so by law or by order or a court, or if such a transfer is required for taking legal action or for prosecuting in the event of attacks launched against the 'Research-in-Germany.de's internet infrastructure. No data will be transferred for any other reason. Click to see the data that your internet browser sends to our server.
Cookies
The Agency uses so-called session cookies. Session cookies are small pieces of information that providers store in the active memory of the visiting user's computer. A randomly-generated, unique ID number, a so-called session ID, is stored in a session cookie. A cookie also contains information on its origin and on how long it may be stored. These cookies are unable to store any other types of data. Other providers use permanent cookies so that they can recognise returning visitors even after a longer period of time. This type of information is then stored as a text file on the hard drive of the user's computer. By contrast, the session cookies used by the Aperto AG are deleted when the session is terminated.
All internet browsers can handle cookies. However, your settings enable you to instruct your browser not to accept any cookies
Sending emails to Research in Germany
When you send us an email, this email and your email address will be used solely for the purpose of corresponding with you. Inquiries in paper or electronic form are stored in accordance with the statutory periods specified by the Registry Directive, which supplements the Joint Rules of Procedure of the Federal Ministries (GGO).
Right of information
You are entitled at all times to be informed of what data have been stored in respect of your person (personal details), on the origin and recipient of these data, and on why they were saved. The DAAD editors (research-in-germany@daad.de) will advise you of what data have been stored. Please address any questions or complaints you may have to the BMBF Data Protection Commissioner.
All internet browsers enable you to see whether cookies have been set and what they contain. Detailed information is provided by the virtual data protection office of the Federal and State Data Protection Commissioners in Germany.
