Students and researchers flock to the workshop “Investigar en Alemania” in Cuernavaca (Mexico)

11/24/11

Location: Cuernavaca, Mexico

In cooperation with a Mexican state research centre, the DAAD office in Mexico ended the year with another half-day information workshop on “Research in Germany”. The workshop was held at the Instituto de Investigaciones Eléctricas (IIE) in Cuernavaca, Morelos on 24 November 2011.

Sixty-five postgrads and scientists from various universities and research institutes based in Cuernavaca attended the morning event to learn more about the research opportunities in Germany. After a welcome speech by the IIE engineer Donaciano Barragán Reyes, the participants listened to an introduction on the German research sector and presentations on ways to initiate and finance cooperative projects and organise visits to Germany on an individual basis. The workshop also included a special presentation on the DFG and its programmes by Dr. Christina Siebe, Mexico’s DFG Ambassador Scientist, and another by Dr. Claudia Treviño Santa Cruz, an alumna of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, on AvH funding programmes. The participants were very interested in the “Research in Germany” Info Counter and took advantage of the personal advising services offered there.
