From 8 to 9 March 2009, the 1st International JARA ENERGY Conference will take place at the Eurogress Conference Centre, Aachen. At the conference, researchers from RWTH and the Research Centre Jlich will meet experts from business and industry in order to present and discuss cutting-edge research on the energy technologies of the future. Round table discussions chaired by high-profile experts in the field will revolve on topics such as clean electricity, e-mobility, energy-efficient buildings, and energy-efficient production.

The conference, which will be opened by the Minister for Science and Innovation of NRW, Professor Andreas Pinkwart, will also provide a visionary outlook on possible energy futures as well as explore opportunities for future collaboration among the participants.

A joint venture by RWTH Aachen University and Forschungszentrum Jlich, the Jlich Aachen Research Alliance (JARA) was founded in 2007. The aim of the collaborative venture is to promote scientific cooperation and exchange by bringing together university researchers with experts from a high-profile non-university research institution. Currently, the Alliance collaborates in the field of simulation sciences, translational brain research, information technology, and energy research.

The JARA ENERGY section currently pools the expertise of around fifty research institutes in the field of energy technologies. For more information on the Jlich Aachen research Alliance, please visit the JARA web pages: www.jara-excellence.de
