Indo-German Kick-off Workshop “From Proof of Concept to Cell-based Medicinal Products”

The RMIG announces the first meeting of the Indo-German Forum of Regenerative Medicine to be held at the Bio Asia in Hyderabad on the 5th of February 2010.
The Kick-off workshop on “From Proof of Concept to Cell-based Medicinal Products” invites experts from Germany and India to share their expertise and experience in translating new therapeutic strategies into clinical applications in the field of regenerative medicine/stem cell science. Selected participants will be invited to trigger the discussion by providing a statement to following topics:
- The first section covers the issue of regulatory affairs – policies, procedures and funding in both countries. (Paul-Ehrlich-Institute/Germany & Indian Council of Medical Research). Statement-invitations to: Dr. Jotwani, Dr. Flory, Ms Iyer, Dr. Pfüller and others
- The second section discusses conditional requirements and infrastructure for bilateral multicenter studies in Germany and India. Statement-invitations to: Dr. Hescheler, Dr. Dhawan, Dr. Mohanty and others
- In the third section clinical studies from Germany and India with a focus on cardiovascular diseases will be presented as examples for future bilateral pilot studies. Statement-invitations to: Dr. Balasubramanian, Dr. Srivastava, Dr. Steinhoff and others
The RMIG organized a German delegation between 30th Jan – 7th Feb 2010. German Scientists who are working in the field of Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Science have the opportunity to visit recognized research clusters in Bangalore, Pune and Hyderabad.

The Regenerative Medicine Initiative Germany – RMIG – is a German association of all relevant players in the field of Regenerative Medicine. Its main objectives are to translate findings from basic research into clinical applications and products, and to position Germany as a forefront location for translational medicine in this area. In the context of the marketing initiative ‘Germany - Land of Ideas’ the RMIG co-ordination office will build a sustainable bilateral Indo-German network in this field. Through targeted marketing measures the aim of this network is to prepare the ground for joint research projects, the acquisition of human resources and the joint development of therapies for India’s emerging market.
