On 6 December 2009 the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Fraunhofer Society and the Egyptian-German Development Cooperation Private Sector Development Programme (PSDP) will be hosting a conference titled “Bridging the Gap between R&D and Private Industry in Egypt – Models of Cooperation”.

The conference aims at demonstrating the different models and modes of cooperation which exist between private industry and R&D institutes. A number of high ranking Egyptian and German representatives from both the industrial and scientific sector will be providing practical examples of cooperation. Furthermore, the audience will be provided with information on financing mechanisms at the Egyptian and international level. Although the event is open to all economic sectors, it will focus particularly on environmental technologies and food processing.

The conference will be held under the auspices of H.E. Eng. Rachid Mohamed Rachid, Minister of Trade and Industry, and H.E. Prof. Dr. Hany Helal, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Up to 200 participants from the national and international industrial and higher education sectors are expected to attend. The conference will begin at 9:00 am in the Aida ballroom at the Marriott Hotel in Zamalek.
